Default Cushman Hawk II gas

I have an unknown year Cushman Hawk II that I just recently bought. The problem I'm having is the belt always turns causing the transmission to be difficult to engage. Seems like easy fix by buying a larger belt. The current belt is a 44 inch belt but the book calls for a 63 inch belt. Seems like a large difference to me, as the 44inch belt probably would slip with maybe another 5 inches or so. Anyway they don't sell the 63 inch belt anymore so I'm looking at how to solve the problem. Can't find another belt so I was thinking of possible adding a chain system with sprockets. Anyone have any advice to help.

I had a similar issue on my Ransomes (Cushman Hawk). I was able to adjust the centrifugal clutch to stop the belt from gaining any traction at idle. In the old manual that I purchased on eBay it also references the idle speed to resolve the same symptom. Your post is a little old, but if you haven't solved your issue maybe that will help.

I apologize for jumping in on this thread. I see you own a Ransomes Hawk. I just purchased one and the model number plate is missing. Could you tell me what year and model the Ransomes machines are 797xxx? My machine is in decent shape but for the stiff brakes and it squeals a little coasting down hill. Any ideas? Thanks!!
