Default Throttle cable on old harley gas 3 wheel golf cart

I have an old Harley 3 wheel gas golf cart my Dad gave me. We use it on the farm. It will not start anymore. It tries but doesn't start. I figured out that the red throttle cable is broken where it connects up by the motor. I am not sure what actually is suppose to connect to. Can anyone tell me or show me a picture of what it connects to? Also, where to I buy a new one? I am a women without man to help

If the throttle cable was broken it should be trying to run full blast all the time. Can you post a picture of yours and the cable you are talking about? It would be easier for us to see what you are looking at rather than us posting pictures of our stuff. We may be able to tell at a glance what is not right about yours.

I will try to get a picture today. It is a 1973 Model D. There is a red cable and a black cable. The black cable appears to be attached to the choke and the red cable appears to be attached to the pedal/throttle. The red cable is the one that is broke. I can't get a good picture of where the red cable is not attached. It appears to have been attached to a lever. I would have to take starter generator (I think that is what it is) off to see where it attaches.

I forgot to post the throttle control cable assembly part # 40528-80 in case you want to purchase other then fleabay. You should posts pics before you purchase that cable anyway , just in case there were modification done to your cart.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Should be a full throttle with no cable so I am thinking something else must be wrong or modified. Its fine to take the picture around the generator. Since its not running it would not hurt to remove it because it will make it easier to work down there.

This is exactly what my 73 looks like. The red cable is what is not attached or broken at the carburetor (I assume). I guess at this point just tell me where to buy one and I am going to have to find someone to fix it. I am fairly mechanically inclined however I think re-installing this cable is going to be above my pay grade...lol

Its hard to see with that pic, but it looks as though the cable just came off the throttle shaft lever. Try to see if the cable will move by depressing the accelerator pedal, maybe with a long stick or a broom handle to see if the cable moves in and out by the carb . If it does move the cable isn't broken inside of the cable housing, and it may have just came off the lever, and needs to be reinstalled. I did leave you a link you can click on a couple posts up that has the cable if you end up needing it. Good Luck!

What is the difference between a 40528-80 throttle cable and a 40528-68? Your parts lists shows a 40528-68 for my model?
