'75 HD 3 wheel D series no spark issue
I am new to the forum and to the old golf cart game. I have restored a few old sleds and this is my first golf cart. I have also never worked with points/condensers. Fortunately all my old sleds have been just new enough to have a cdi system. Anyway, I have gapped the points at .020". The points and condenser are brand new. I am getting 11-12 volts to both the + and - side of the coil. No spark. I have tried a few ways to test the coil, but not confident that either way was actually a correct test. as a last resort, I clipped the end off the spark plug wire and put a new screw on spark plug cap. This didn't help either. any help would be great!

You should have a grounding strap from your motor to your frame. Make sure its in place and the contact points are clean. For testing, I like to just run a jumper cable from the negative on the battery to a motor mount to make sure there is a good ground
I dont think there is any way to test the coil. Those arent too expensive though. Most folks get a new one, put it on, and if the cart works the coil was bad. If it still doesnt work you have new coil for your parts inventory. |

Ok, thanks, I'll order a new one. I have tested the ground strap with an ohm meter and it is fine. Is 11.5 volts to both the + and - side the right amount of voltage?
