New brake cable too short?
I am just trying to install the new brake cable that I got a month or so ago and it seems like it's too short. Even when I compress the spring on the pad end all the way and clamp vice grips there so it stayed compressed it's too short. Did they send me the wrong cable or is there something I'm missing?

Re: New brake cable too short?
Been there done that, most of the after market brake cables need to be re-engineered I posted a thread for just such an "Brake Cable Assembly issue"
Well, I figured it out, you have to cut the cable housing off near the adjusting screw. I took off 1 1/4 " , you have got to be careful not to damage the cable. Also were the clevis pin goes on the same side as the adjusting screw, it needed to be drill out, because it was to small for the pin, But its all good. Should have figured there would be problems, with a re-make of the QEM part. BITA |

Re: New brake cable too short?
K, thanks for the advice. I'll give it another try tomorrow. Frustrating to get a new part that doesn't work, I realize sometimes aftermarket parts are a little off but there is no way this cable will work as is.
