Default 1982 Harley Davidson 3 wheel gas

I am looking for a muffler and pipes for my 1982 Harley 3 wheel gas golf cart (model 3B). I just purchased this and it did not have the muffler on it. All the websites no longer carry this muffler for this model. Anyone know how I can get one or if anyone has one? Thanks

I don't know what the difference is from any other HD muffler so I can't help you there but I would call Vintage golf cart parts and ask if an older muffler can be modified to fit. Also our sponsors may be able to help. Don't forget them!

The engine heads are the same so the exhaust port would be the same so that part should work if you got an earlier muffler. Where the big change was was the 82+ motor was that it had a larger cooling fan so the mounting bracket were farther apart. The 82+ muffler was also wider and for some reason the inlet pipe runs over the top of the muffler and goes into the muffler over by the battery. The earlier muffler just had an elbow out of the head and pretty much went straight to the muffler.

I would think you could adapt the earlier muffler. I think you would just need to make a couple plates to go from the mounts on your motor out to the mounts on the old one. The inlet pipe is just clamped on so if there needed to be modifications to make the inlet reach the new location I would think it would be fairly easy.

Yep. They dont make those newer ones anymore. Most people just keep their newer style ones in working shaped with welding. I will be welding a hole in mine later today.

I think that reason why the newer ones are no longer made is that the older ones can be made to fit. I always thought that these just bolted on but I see what Eldo is saying with having to shimmy that new muffler over. Your issue is getting the pipe that goes from the exhaust port to the muffler. These need to be recycled from the muffler being replaced but, as you don't have one, that will be tricky to make. Żou need the flange that connects the muffler to the engine too.
