1976 Harley Davidson 2 stroke, when not choked.
Guys, a little help would be great. I just replaced the carb on my 76 Harley 2 stroke. It was leaking. Even before I replaced the carb, it did not run right. When I pull the choke out it runs for a short time then stops. It does not run well enough to move it. There are no vacuum line going to the carb. I thought maybe the carb was adjusted wrong, there only appears to be one adjusting screw. I turned the screw all the way clockwise and then backed off 3/4 of a turn and the same result. I did notice that there is a small fuel leak, maybe coming from the crank seal on the pulley side. It almost seems like when the choke is pulled out it dumps fuel into the carb and burns through it. If I choke it again it will run the same. Any help would be great.

Crank seals need to be replaced. Search BGW and you will find many posts regarding crank seals.

Sounds like the vacuum path to the carb from the crank case is stopped up. Klphdryder is correct the seals are most likely bad.
