I don't know why you couldn't just make your own spark plug wire or buy a single cable. Thats what I'm going to do when I need one.

NGKs are fine and you will need to use their number if you want to cross it over to something else. 73 model, NGK BP5ES gapped at 0.025", if my information is correct.

NGK seem to be by far the most commonly available ones and seem to be decent quality.

For the cable I have just been scrounging around my garage for stuff. I seem to have ended up with incomplete sets over the years so I usually have something that will work.

If you have to buy one a coil wire for a Ford duraspark should work. It should be fairly short and should have the correct ends. The Duraspark cap had spark plug like terminals and the coils were the same.

Correct, the duraspark2 systems used a standard coil and the cap had spark plug like terminals so a coil wire for one of those should work on the carts. The Duraspark 2 I think was 75-mid 80's. The next system was TFI where I think the coil changed.

I have a ngk in mine....and a generic plug wire on mine, but I'm getting ready to replace wire and plug. I'm going back with a champion plug... H10 as I recall. Make sure you have correct reach, my 68 has the option of both heads.....my father in laws 67 has the long reach, soak plug in at a angle, to the top, I have the short reach, head in center.... but to simplify your answer yes generic wires are ok, and the ngk is good, the Champions are suspect ale to getting wet and not firing...I've not had issues.
