Default My Cart will not move sometimes

I have a 1990 Columbia Par Car Harley Davidson and it accelerates great sometimes, but other times it will not move. My choke shaft that goes through my carburetor feels loose and will wiggle. It is a WHL 10 carburetor. The cart cuts out some because of the carburetor issue. However, I am more concerned at this point about the cart not pulling itself up inclines. Does this sound like a clutch problem or could it be a carburetor problem? Most of the time my problem is on hills.

Choke shaft being loose should not really hurt anything unless its so floppy that it can just close on its own. Its leaks at or after the throttle blade that could cause issues.

You could have a clutch issue causing the hill climbing issue. You could try jacking up the back wheels and run it that way watching the clutches and belt to make sure its running smooth. It will act different with no load but if there is a spot it sticks under load often times you will see it hang up or jump for a second when it hits that spot unloaded.

Other thought would be to do a compression check on the engine to see what the general health is. Over 100 is good, 75-80 seems to be about the point where they just don't run right anymore. Doing it in both forward and reverse and comparing the readings also gives you some clues to the health. A fresh engine they will be pretty close. THe more used it is the more spread there seems to be between the directions.
