79 Engine swap
I bought a 79 HD gas cart not long ago. It didn't run when I bought because the reed stop screw came off, fell in the crank case and locked up the engine. I did a half-a$$ rebuild on it just to get it running. It has new gaskets, piston, rings, wrist pin, points and carb cleaned with new gaskets. It still has a hesitation at upper rpm's. I was considering an engine swap. Something like a Predator V-twin. I found a manual that I've read through the majority of but I was glad to see this site and was hoping somebody may have done something like this already. I'm trying to get a little more out pep out of the sled. I would appreciate any feedback or ideas anyone has on this since this is new to me. Thanks!!

Re: 79 Engine swap
I have read about a couple HD swaps but not many and I don't recall a lot of details about what or how they did it. I would guess the swaps are not that popular on these because of the lack of other parts and mods available for them so unless you are a total custom DIY fab guy there are easier carts to mess with.
