Clutches are touching

My 74 Harley with a Columbia engine and Columbia primary and secondary clutches are touching at high speeds and sparking. I just installed new motor mounts and has brand new belt installed trying to solve the problem. Running on a jack stand it will pull the engine over for them to hit. Any thoughts?

are the mounts in correctly? doesn't this engine have a torsion bar that goes from engine to axle? is this in there and adjusted correctly?

That happened to me wth new motor mounts on one of my Columbias. New motor mounts are less rigid than OEM ones and flex too much allowing the clutches to come together when the motor revs up. The fix was easy. I made spacers by cutting some short sections of pipe and installed a couple on the driver's side mounts to stiffen them up.

Get some pipe that's roughly the same diameter of the mounts. Cut a couple of 1/2 inch sections or so. I installed mine as such (bolt head - washer -spacer - frame - motor mount - motor) so that when I torqued the mounting bolt I had more thread available than normal, allowing me to tighten the mount more thus removing excess mount flex.
