Good From Far, Far From Good Restoration....
So, I picked up and brought home my Harley Davidson 3 wheeler today. Plate tells me it is a model 3B made in 1978 (H8 ). So, I have that part figured out. After bringing it home, I gave it a quick thorough wash under the 'hood' and outside. This was supposed to be going on the block for sale so I brought it home on a if I use it I can keep it. So I want to do a quick paint job on it and will be doing it by roller and brush(where needed). Tremclad Medium Blue Gloss will be the paint. Also, I have a 1/2 pint of Tremclad Gloss Black I will probably do below the moulding on the 'hood'. There are a couple of small cracks I would like to fix tomorrow morning on the front of the cart. All I have left to do is find and install a rear taillight, and source out a LED bulb for the front light. So, this is the 'before'.
The seat was done a bit crudely, but it works. I wanted to replace it with 2 'buckets', but for now I will use this. |

I forgot to mention that today I removed the rear bar (whatever it was for) and handles to prep under them for painting. I also removed both front rubber floormats, trays, cup holders. Once I get the inside painted, I will re-install the floormats, trays, and cup holders. I then sanded the whole body and went over it all with a scuff pad.

I would say it was a bag retaining bar for someone that actually plays golf , I hear rumors of people doing that

Re: Good From Far, Far From Good Restoration....
Ok. So just a little update. Got teh Tremclad paint today. Came home, finished up the fiberglass work outside then brought the cart into the garage. Quickly masked up teh rubber mouldings and the front Harley Davidson emblem. Then I started to go around the mouldings and the rubber mats in the back with a small brush which turned out crappy, so I switched to a 2" brush. Then my parents showed up wanting to help so mom grabbed a roller and dad a small 1" brush. Coat one is now done and will apply teh second and last coat tomorrow after work. There are a couple of runs from teh 'hired help', but I will just leave them for now and fix them up later. I was going to politely say something, but I just said nothing as they just wanted to help. It is looking nice. Unfortunately after that was done, I went right outside to do some yardwork and now my back is killing me, so I apologize there is no pictures tonight. I will try to remember to take one tomorrow.

Re: Good From Far, Far From Good Restoration....
And another little update, and again without pictures. Today is windy as all heck out, and of course, the wind blows right past my garage. So, before painting while getting ready, I opened the door for some air while I was getting ready. When I was about to start, I remembered the door open and thought it was not that bad. Well, one look at my cart and it was full of dust from these stupid winds. So closed the door, and dry wiped down the cart before painting. Also installed both of the homemade shelves in front of each occupant before painting so I could paint the rivets. Anyways, gave it its second coat then unmasked it. I did not take any pictures as the lighting is poor and it would honestly look worse than the original picture of it in my avatar. So, with fingers crossed it will be sunny out tomorrow afternoon and I will push it outside for a couple pictures.
The only thing for me is the seat. It was done quickly and it looks ok as a bench seat, however, when painting the cart, I painted it completely in case I can find a couple of cheap boat seats to install. |

Ok. So I finished it up today with teh exception of the top and mounting the seats permanently. I was pretty happy overall. Now to remove the fuel tank, drain it, then fill it up with some new fuel at 80:1. Then go have some fun in the parade with it.
