Default 1973 harley davidson golf cart air filter mounting

Hello I have a 1973 H1 cart. Air cleaner is green and keeps falling off. Nut at top unscrews all the time I guess due to vibration. there is a stud on the side of the air cleaner at bottom. NOt sure its the correct year air cleaner housing but its the same shape as the ones Ive seen jjust green, and not black. If it is the correct year air cleaner then what bracket am I missing that bolts to this stud on the side of the cleaner housing? Been searching youtube for videos but good camera guys that havnt drank a gallon of coffee thereby makeing a smooth non jerky video are far and few between. Havnt found photo gallery on this site yet if there is one

Do you have a rubber gasket on the base? mine has a wing nut that tightens down on a rubber washer never comes loose, try using a nylon lock nut, that should stay in place, mine has that stud, got no idea what it is for, maybe other applications like the early EZGO Marathon has the same canister air cleaner and it used that stud if i remember correctly

Never heard of any type of bolts on the side of an air cleaner. That may have been a homemade whatever that was put there by a previous owner to hold who knows what.
You may want to replace that wing nut with a real one and torque it down just a little bit on top of a lock washer. That should hold it.

The air cleaner canister is used on some old John Deere Garden Tractors and they have a stud, and some are green too, maybe someone replaced yours at some point with a JD unit, my 76 HD cart has that stud but is unused too. Seem's this canister cleaner was used in many different applications besides Harley Golf carts

Check the bottom section for metal fatigue cracks.
If it's cracked it will not hold tension on the wing nut at the top.
It can be welded.
Good luck.
