Default are the steering wheel style 3 wheelers worth more?

hi guys ive been lurkin on here awhile and finally decided to jump in because i have some questions. im building an AMF cart and i needed some parts, and like alot of people on here from what ive read, i came across a whole car that had the parts i needed. well long story short, i now have an extra cart and all the parts. it is really nice and has a frame for a top and motor and everything (i just needed the clutch and some little stuff and it actually came with a spare clutch) my problem is i dont want to go through building another one up. ive been at the one im finishing up for months and im ready to be done. so heres my questions.

what is worth the most on these carts?
the clutch was hard to find in good shape so i assume that.

is the three wheel steering wheel setup rare, and worth money? ive never seen one like this i thought they were all tiller steers.

is the motor worth selling whole or in parts?

thanks everybody and sorry for all the questions, im just trying to find a gameplan for this cart. the wifey isnt exactly thrilled about another old cart around. LOL

Wow. This is a question that cannot be answered without making some people upset.

I think it all depends on where you are, and mostly what is popular in your area at the moment. Some people love the 3 wheelers, others hate them. What do you like?

Around here, 4 wheel Harleys are extremely rare.

Steering wheel 3 wheelers? I'm not sure. Most around here have tiller.

As far as what your wife thinks about any of this, I can't help. LOL.

Why would people get upset? I was just curious if it was worth anything because i thought it was rare. I don’t see how that would upset people? I can love 1988 Honda civics but i still know they aren’t worth as much as a 1988 Porsche. My apologies if it does upset anybody though.

Regarding the carts, three wheelers were more prevalent than 4 wheelers but value isn't changed much. The condition of the cart is where the money is, not the style. The same applies to tiller vs. steering wheel on the 3 wheelers. The steering wheel is more rare but that doesn't mean much. If a tiller one is nicer than a steering wheel one then the tiller one is worth more.

To be honest, upset wife or not, I would try everything I could to keep that spare cart. If need be, tear that sucker to the bones so that you at least have a parts stash, even if it means getting rid of the body / frame. There isn't that much money in the body / frame anyway as those tend to last a lot longer than the mechanical stuff. The money is in the engine and clutches. Crankshafts are next to impossible to find for these and are at least a couple of hundred bucks when you can find one.

Regarding the value of the motor as whole vs. parts, the honest, there probably is more value in the parts but not enough to justify parting it out. The crankshafts are getting rare and the cooling fans are tough to find as well. $250 for a crank and and probably close to $100 for the fan assuming it's good. New cylinders are still made so used ones aren't worth anything. I have never heard of case halves going bad so those can't be worth much, same with the flywheel. I would keep the motor in case you need it.

Very good analysis of the situation.

I agree that 3 wheel wheeled ones 4's are rare but don't seem to add any special value. I have yet to run into a 'collector' that just has to have one of every option to complete the collection.

I suspect it was something like your 3 wheel tiller was $295. 3 wheel wheel was $395. 4 wheel $495. Did a steering wheel bring more golfers to your course to make it worth paying and extra $100 x how ever many carts you had?

I have not really been watching the market or looking for parts lately but the little I have been looking it seems like there are not as many carts for sale especially for a reasonable price. Same thing with parts. Seems like there was a peak in vintage carts maybe 10 years ago and that sucked up a lot of the good parts and carts.
