Default Need Advice

Looking at buying a 1981 Harley Davidson. The guy says it runs great in reverse, but doesn't have full power in forward. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Minor? or could it end up costing quite a bit. Don't have a lot of exra money right now.

Thanks

My advice would be to buy a cart made by one of the 3 major manufactures who are still in business today. The HD/Columbia and Westinghouse, etc. carts which have not been made for some time are hard to find parts and tech support for. THe 3 major makers are Ezgo, ClubCar and Yamaha. I hope this helps

Could be a "timing" problem or a "charging" problem. Timing is set to run better in forward, if it's off, runs better in reverse. The charging only works in forward, therefore "dragging" down the rpm's. Like Scotty said, better to spend alitttle more with one of the big 3. The 4 cycle engine are alot less tempermental. HD/Coulumbia (now Parcar) were tempermental (allways had to "play" with them) and parts are real expensive if you have to buy from Parcar. Good luck on your desission.

ya one of your crank seals is blown out they run in rev and no power in fwd, common problem when left sitting, also buy a rebuild carb kit, this will save some time
