HD Clutch Oil, Any Brand?
I recently bought a 1978 HD model D (my first golf cart ever). I had the drive clutch stick in the "close" position so it wouldn't take off without a good push. I pulled the drive cup cover off & I saw one of the drive balls was stuck. I freed it & replaced the cup cover.
This was three weekends ago. It wasn't until today when I was reading the service manual that besides the three springs, collars, & retainers, there was suppose to be some oil that would spill out. In a nutshell, we've been driving our new to us golf cart without the required 12 oz of clutch oil. I read that it takes "Clutch Oil: 12 ounces of 75/90 wt. gear oil" do I need a specific kind or brand? Also, how much damage have I been doing? Thanks, Brad |

Any brand will work.
you'll have to oil it and ride it to see if you've damaged anything. chances are it will be fine if it's still working now. you might have to apply a small bead of silacone around the o-ring if the cover leaks. |
