Need 1974 H-D gas cart info.
Absolutely newbee and registered.
Stumbled onto this forum. Found a 1974, H/D, 3 wheel, golf cart in pretty bad shape. Been sitting for a few years. Tires hold air, seats are all but gone showing foam, guess it ran about 2-3 years ago and just sitting out in covered shed since. Where can I get a manual and parts list? Considering attempt in restoring to usable condition. Any advice appreciated. TIA |

I restored a 1978 last Winter. It was a blast. Parts are available but some are not cheap. Good Luck with your cart and please keep us posted. People on this site are very helpful and know there stuff when it comes to these old Harleys.

Re: Need 1974 H-D gas cart info.
Thank you all so much! You are as good or better than the auto forum and it is most appreciated. Gives me incentive and hope that I can do it, even at 85yrs of age.
I believe I will take this on. Enthused now and will take pictures and post. Right now I'm downloading the manual(taking a time to be sure, but anxious to see & study). I'm at my summer place in CO and depending on weather will return to AZ about Oct. Sure wish I still had a my pick up and could get it to AZ for the next months. How do you transport or suggest transporting? If I had it in AZ I could do the disassembly and get lots done until returning here in mid May. (Would have to get it back here then too). Can't waste time letting months go by doing nothing with my years you know! Any and all suggestions from you will be sincerely appreciated. Should have some pictures by this evening for you to comment on. Thanks so much again, really! |

Re: Need 1974 H-D gas cart info.
She don't look that bad at all!! I've seen worse-Heck,I've had worse!!
She's a good one-the steering wheel makes Her kinda rare, most were made with the tiller---Ya' got yourself a nice cart there, A little fiberglass, bondo, find a couch /chair in the garbage with vinyl (or leather) you like & there are your new seats! as far as moving Her,She'll fit in the back of a pick-up,but since you don't have one-keep an eye out for a cheap trailer-I made mine out of an old pop-up camper someone gave me-works great! Harbor freight, menards ect usually have real cheap trailers. All you need is about 600# capacity. Good Luck!!!! Keep us Posted! |

Re: Need 1974 H-D gas cart info.
Thank you for the encouragement & support. Will get it into my garage here his week end. I am leery of trying to start the engine after sitting idle so long. Does anyone have suggestions as to prep for start other than emptying & cleaning fuel tank, checking fuel lines, remove spark plug, clean and adjust gap, and perhaps dousing cylinder inside with say WD-40 for lube and moisture removal, allowing it to sit for a time, checking all electrical connections and setting brake? Any and all pointers will be appreciated. There is no key for it, but thanks to you all I do have manual online now in a file to reference and study. Also does anyone wish to hazard a guesstimate as to how much parts to overhaul engine with new belts etc. amount to so I can anticipate costs a bit? Overwhelmingly appreciative knowing there is an advisory help forum like this to asks questions. Thank you ! Do not feel lonely now.

Re: Need 1974 H-D gas cart info.
I found mine for $35.00 in really bad condition. It still is not a good looking cart but it is in excellent mechanical condition. It cost me $500.00 to get it in good running condition but it was worth it. It it would cost a little less today. The Harley cart is a good cart to run! Good Luck with yours!
