'75 H.D. 2 cycle with porr forward performance
I have a 4 wheel H.D. 2 cycle golf cart( I was told it is a '75 but heard that could be wrong, maybe older?). It ran fine for a while but now it does not want to go forward very well, I have to push it a little. Reverse is strong and takes right off. I some times climb my hill in reverse due to this. Compression is around 80 lbs, new battery, and charges fine. Any ideas would be appreciated, Raggz p.s. once it is going forward it runs fine

Hey raggz,
take alook at your drive belt, make sure it's not worn,If any doubt, replace it. Did you check the compression in fwd & rev ? You can check your vin# athttp://www.vintagegolfcartparts.com/...d_serial_guide Hope this helps! |

No, I did not check compression in reverse, interesting! I will give it a shot. I did replace both belts, did not make much of a difference. I have a tune up kit on the way so I will install that and see, Thanks

You may wanna check out some older posts in this section...i'm pretty new to the golf cart rodeo, but there are alot of posts with this problem and alot of people point to the timing, check it out and let us know, my 81D is doing the same thing, will go full throttle in reverse and fly, but once in fwd...it hesitates a bit and you have to gain some momentum before giving full throttle.

Re: '75 H.D. 2 cycle with porr forward performance
i installed new NGK spark plug and air filter. I need to install points and condenser and fuel filter but I don;t know where the points are. I also noticed the head bolts were slightly loose. Not sure the torque spec. Regardless, it ran great after the plug and air filter. Thanks for all the help
