AMH H-D 3 wheeled no start
(typo in the name its a AMF not H) hi im new to golf carts but trying to fix one for a friend. issue is a no start, apparently the machine ran last year. machine doesnt even crank over. the owner messed around and put a new batterie and what apears to be a starter solenoid. what confuses me is theres another black box half the size of my fist on the same peice of frame as the solenoid and i dont know what it is. any suggestions on what to do? thanks

Could be the regulator? Pics would help.

Are the regulators / solinoids for these HD carts unique to the carts? What I mean is can you get this stuff at the local parts store? The Solinoid just looks like an old Ford car solinoid!

Take a few pix of the cart, get one of the vin tag & we can see what kind of cart we are talking about, & the engine area, point out what we need to look at & someone more intelligent than me can help you in the right direction!!!

The solenoid is a dedicated continuous solenoid.

Re: AMH H-D 3 wheeled no start
First things first, can you turn the engine over by hand... can you rotate the drive clutch?
OK, if you can turn the engine over, than problem is in one of two electrical circuits... or one of the components in those circuits. The two circuits are the "starter/generator" circuit and the "ignition" circuit. Here's a simple test... Jumper the two big studs on the solenoid (use something stout, like a heavy screwdriver)... if the starter/generator cranks the engine than you know that circuit is good and you need to be looking at the ignition circuit... Try that test and c'mon back with the results... we'll go from there. |
