Update on my '68 gasser restoration.

New motor installed, new wire harness, belts, solenoid, ignition components and fuel tank sending unit. Working on rebuilding carb now. Waiting on new brake pads. Will install all this week along with new rear axle seals, starter/generator tensioner and control cables including brake, throttle and accelerator.

This is a NEW motor including new cases, crankshaft, cylinder, piston, bearings, seals, gaskets, etc. Only parts reused are the carb and cylinder head. Can’t wait to crank it up in the next few weeks!! All my parts were purchased at reasonable pricing from Jon at www.golfcartcare.com. He has been a pleasure to work with and is very knowledgeable.

Body work is 90% complete. Plan next week is to bolt on the floor pans, all body parts and freshly chromed parts before paint to make sure fitment of all is correct. Then remove and paint. Plan to paint Harley Screamin Eagle Electric Orange and black with 3/8 silver stripe at paint joint. Will be using DuPont’s Chroma Premiere paint and clear coat.

If I can dig up a few more bucks, will order new turf type tires and hub caps to complete the restoration. Oops, almost forgot the seat upholstery!! Anyhow, it’s coming along and I am thoroughly enjoying the build!!

Will keep ya posted on the progress.
