Default Whats it worth?????

A guy down the street has a 1970 Harley Cart.Looks nice...sorta orange in color.Tires are fair.He says it wont start.It cranks fine...good compression...just won't start.

Is it worth messing with?

just a thought for you, probably use a tune up, maybe belt, so figure $60 up front, I was kinda kinda suprised when I got one and got into them, found out seems to be more of one of those what you want to put into in and more of a hobbie thing. when you get into "whats it worth" more of doing it for what you want. Probably the only thing harley thats not worth something just cause of the name. I know here in Indiana, Ive seen really nice ones, that have been fixed up and there being sold for about $800 to $1000, and really I have seen them stitting for quite a long time at that price. So I'd say if you can get one, and fixed up for under that then your looking pretty good. other than that it's just what you want to put into it for a hobbie.

If you can set points, replace a spark plug, tighten a generator belt and other old school type stuff, then its doable. I bought mine that would barely run, found out the point gap was almost no gap. Set the gap and off I went. Lots of parts still out there for these. I paid $350 for mine because it barely ran. Original asking price was $400. I sure am having a ball with mine for that price. I may someday get on a golf course with mine but right now I terrorize the subdivision. I do plan on using it on a shotgun sporting clays course.

I got mine a couple of years ago for $200, but I have put a lot of time and small parts into it. If you are a decent mechanic you can make it run with some time and effort. Like one of the guys said before it will take over your life for a while to get it going just right. I ended up buying an electric for the course and still tinker with the Hog from time to time.
