Default Front Clip Question

Anyone know if a 3B AMF front clip is the same as a HD D cart? Been restoring mine for a while, front end is in very poor shape, lots & lots of glass work. Found a used clip in great shape & would make restoration much easier!

Thanks in advance.

Don,

Will let you know. Mine should be here in a few days. Bought it off eBay for $125. I had probably 30-40 hrs invested in mine trying to repair. Was in pretty tough shape. Gave up due to time constraints. Hope it fits!! It'll make life easier and get my restoration completed.

you bought that setup from FeeBay then that was out of MI? I was trying to find someone that would be passing thru there that could grab it along the way; I was trying to deal with him on both the body and the front clip; I may still take that body;
but its p/u only and 270 miles away. Definitely a good price.
I have enough front clip parts here that I can fiberglass and fix. but I know that finding good parts and just bolting them on would be easier;
I had a guy that i was talking to around Christmas time in Ga. that was supposed to have a crap load of parts for these; but I find myself "banned" from that site (not a golf cart forum) I had saved a couple PMs from that guy but cant access them any more.
I still E mail a couple members behind the scenes occasionally maybe I can E mail one of them to get ahold of a mod there that can look him up; he wanted$100 for a front clip which I thought at the time was a little... rich for what it was.

The guy kinda pizzed me off as he was PM'ing me about twice a day (that wasnt the problem) but he kept telling me about his sister coming down for Christmas that don't live too far away and could bring back any parts I needed, and I'd only have to go to Champaign to get them; not far at all; but during christmas he fell off the face of the Earth; i had sent him multiple PMs asking if it still be possible to send the parts with his sister; all suddenly went unanswered;
About 2 weeks later I get a "sorry" PM that he'd "disappeared" to texas for a hunting trip that his sister was again back home, sorry he missed me, etc; up til this time no mention of price had been discussed; but now that his sister was back home near me and couldn't any longer bring me parts, "then" he dropped the $100 price tag on me "plus freight"; I was POd that I could have saved the freight had he answered me while his sister was there; previously (when he would not answer the "how much" question, he had said something about just paying his sister when I picked the stuff up; but again "then" he wouldn't answer me when I asked that one)

Yep, bought it out of MI. I run a boat service & restoration facility so glass work is nothing new to us. Problem with the clip I had was it was so badly broken up in all the wrong places. Very difficult repair and I finally said F it! Looked like some great pieces for the money. Hope they arrive as good as they looked on eBay!!!

Well good for you; both my carts are "3B" prefix; I have a 73 now and will be getting an 81 next week; the 73 is steering wheel the 81 is tiller.
I had contacted that guy on Ebay that you got your front clip from about a pkg deal for the front clip and the body and he came back with a decent price but a 540 mile round trip just for a cart body seemed a bit steep;

My neighbor who is also a member here, coincidentally just joined the tractor forum that I am no longer associated with; I asked him this morning to PM a mod and see if he could get the username of the guy I was talking to at christmas time so he could PM him thru that site and see if he still has anything;

I can't believe that people are asking $500 for non runners, basically trashed beat up parts carts on there; there is one in about Peoria IL a blue '69 that has been for sale for either $129-139 on there recently; I ddont rememebr if that one had an engine or motor on it; "from the pics" the body looked decent; but lighting exposure Photoshop etc can distort reality;
there is another blue one on there that the seller wants $500; and in his description he says that you want parts? buy the whole thing for the listed price and he'd remove and send what you want and send it; a bit out rageous if you ask me....
there was a nice white one out in like oregon that was listed at $350 to start and if I remember right, a BIN of $400;
I hope I didn't get hosed for the $400 I am paying for this one next week.....
the worst part is that my wife don't yet know; but as many "projects" as I bring home I'm sure it won't surprise her any. (she's put up with me for 20 years so far, as of a week from now)

I basically bought this one as a "model" so i could tell how my 73 is supposed to go, then I can see what I need to get that one back together.
One may be for sale down the road once i get them both fixed up.

oh and for $125+shipping; I figure i can buy alot of resin and cloth for that much.....
the "new" one looks dang decent from the pics definitely more "presentable" than the other garage ornament I have; that will aloow me to take the time and fix the garage ornament "right"; I do have another nose and pr of fenders that while they need work they are definitely better than what is currently on there.

Basically if you have no clue how to do fiberglass work, it probably looks better cracked up than it will with a botched repair. Not a knock against anyone here as much as the guy who I got the '73 from. I worked in a fiberglass shop during high school and later in HS at a go cart track, at which my job in the offseason was, yup fiberglassing all the crashed up bodies so they looked "pretty" in the Spring again.
That said once I get thje 'glass work done on mine, I'll have someone else "go over" it for waves and such and spray the paint on it.

I thought I put this up last nite; but YOU GOT LUCKY. Don't find any for that price around here even as a basketcase.
though I did get my 73 for free from a buddy who'd given up on it because he couldn't get Reverse out of it (a $150 rebuild of the starter gen should take care of that, havent reinstalled it yet) and it wouldn't run w/o spraying gas into the carb w/a spray bottle; after he'd spent over $300 on other parts for it trying to figure out the Reverse and got tired of waiting for his son to figure out the gas delivery problem; with the carb not being bolted down just "set" on the studs; no wonder. I havent messed with it in a while, time to do so again after my last "final", back to school after 20+ years.

Around here they aren't worth much. People used to use them on the farm but most have 4 wheelers or UTVs now. Most of the local country clubs have there own carts or people have much newer ones. Just a few hold out like me and a couple buddies that have them because they are cheap. I have 2 in my garage simply because it was cheaper to buy the 4 wheel one than fix the 3 wheeler. They go for 50-450 here with 450 being cream of the crop.
