So, how much, or often...
...do you run your cart?
My daughter drives the Harley around the yard near every day... uses it to feed and water the dogs, get the mail, etc. My three-year-old just loves to go for a ride so all of us are running it just to appease him (of course sometimes that's just our excuse to fire it up). The wife and I go for a little cruise around the settlement, and down by the river 3-4 times a week at "happy-hour" time. Whenever we have a get-together around the fire pit all the kids (and some adults) are running it through the woodlot, up and down the road all night long (and with the lights I put on it it don't stop until everyone goes home, sometimes well after midnight). We've packed a cooler and taken it on two "road trips" to friends houses, one about 8-miles round trip, the other about 6-miles round trip. It's made a zillion runs down to grandpa's house, about a half mile away. The back-end gets load with yard tools, firewood, toys, dogs, and you-name-it on weekends. Anyway, I'm pouring 5-6 gallons of gas in it every week... and at near $4.oo a gallon, plus the oil... I'm spending over $20.oo a week just to keep it going. Over the upcoming July 4th holiday we've got friends coming from out of state... they'll be here for 4 days... I'm figuring at least 10-gallon of gas... Heck, we'll probably go through more gas than beer. |

Congrats to you, sounds like your having alot of fun with it!!!
I wish we were that lucky. I'm stuck here in Phoenix for the time being and happy just to ride around the RV park. I could ride further, but I don't have plates or regisrtation for it :( But always has a cooler full of beer in it when we go to the pool :) |

Yeah Don I could put brake lights, headlight, and turn signals to drive it on the streets here in AZ.. Plus I have no title, just a bill of sale. So I'mm happy riding here inside the park for now, or if I load it up to ride in the country

Re: So, how much, or often...
Wife & I run ours every weekend at our camp, it's a private 3,000 acre area that you own the land with a lake and miles of back country roads that we just cruise around for hours. Funny you should mention the gas, I was just telling my wife this past weekend that our cart gets worse MPG than our full size truck. OH WELL, I bet most of you will agree that these things are well worth all of the cost & headaches that we put up with.

I am not sure mine even uses gas. The gauge doesn't seem to move.

Re: Gas mileage
It appears that I can drive mine for about 3 to 4 trips through my sub-division which is 1.65 miles. So that is 5 to 7 MPG going almost full throttle all the time, about 16 MPH on the flat, 10 going up the steep hill and 18-19 going down. I am going to try only using 1/2 pedal movement which should give about 13/14 on the flat. I believe it takes a twice as much gas (and pedal movement) to go from 13/14 to 16/17 MPH. I'LL report back when I try some mileage reposts using 1/2 throttle. My 1972 model still has a working SW fuel guage that appears accurate.

I bet the up keep on the GC is far cheaper than on a car.

My gas gauge doesn't move either, it is always one empty, guess that is my next project and yea the upkeep is cheaper then a car, also I think we will all agree that the money & headaches that we all put up with are well worth it

Re: So, how much, or often...
I don't get to ride much at home. usually in the garage making sure everyone else is running.
When I get to the cabin then it's my time. |
