"Pulse" Fuel Pump Conversion? ('82 DX4)
Hello all,
Last year I restored an '80 and, in the process, I added an electric fuel pump with simply great results. I am now restoring an '82 that has the pulse pump. Can I replace the pulse pump with an electric? Perhaps seal the crankcase where the hose connects back to the pump? It seems as if many of these older carts have fuel delivery issues and I would just as soon install an electric pump rather than rely on 30 year old technology. Mechanically the cart looks ok but I have't tried to start it. The former owner said he did a top-end and carb rebuild and had it running but we shall see. Here are some pics. I have the body off to replace the floor and to do the body work. The rear body is shot but I am doing ok with reconstructing it so far. The front cowl is fine. |
