High RPM missing
1976 AMF Harley gas
- Compression 90 PSI - Points 2 week old gaped at 22 thousanths. (0.022) - Timing Spot on! Pun intended! - Muffler burned on fire when new cylinder and piston installed mid August. - Points not changed with top end rebuild but 2 weeks later. - New spark plug when points changed! - Condenser not changed as points were not built up on either contact side. When jacked up or driving, previous high RPM nor attainable and miss-fires occur as well. - Checked with muffler removed, Same result! - Plug wire swapped out, same result! ALSO bogs at beginning of acceleration! Thoughts please, - bad set of points? - bad coil? - fuel supply? I am leaning toward bad points since that is the last thing changed! |

Re: High RPM missing
P.I.T.A Condenser!!!!!
Put old points back in, gaped and checked timing! Same result; high rev miss-fire. Bought a new condenser, installed it, reset points, checked timing again and.... Done like dinner. Twice in my life I have experienced a condenser problem. Last one was a 1967 Mustang that kept quitting when hot. Done and done for tomorrow I Golf! |
