Default Replacement rear springs

I mentioned in another post that the back end of my 76 four wheel cart is sagging just slightly when empty, it is more pronounced with weight in the back. I replaced the rear shock with a new one, the springs are not broken from what I can see but they are definitely worn out.

I have been searching for new ones, I don't want used springs because I may end up with the same issue. I checked vintage, etc., they only have used. Does anyone know a part number for replacement springs that will go right in with no modification, still using stock shock, etc.? I think I only have about an inch or two of extra travel in the shock so I can't use springs that are too long or the shock won't bolt back in.

Thanks for any help.

I had original springs on my '75D that I replaced with new set. They were not the original dimensions, but 1 inch longer. They are working fine. Got them from Vintage. Not listed on their web site. Spoke to them on the phone and ordered.

Ok thanks I'll give them a call and see. When you changed your springs, was it just a matter of disconnecting the shock and then jacking up the upper portion of the frame? The springs just sit in there right?

Yes, That's correct. They sit in "cups".

The coils will fix it,All the shocks do is eliminate bouncing.

Yes I replaced the shock because it was completely shot, the back of the cart bounced like crazy. When I put the new shock in though it brought the back end of the cart down, almost like it's pulling down on the springs because the springs are worn.

If the shocks are too short,or the coils too long, they will restrict height.Shocks themselves,as far as how they operate do nothing for ride height, ever(except Coil-Overs or Air-Shocks).Measure from the floor to a spot on the cart, then remove the shocks(unbolt one end),then remeasure. If it sits higher, you need shock extenders or longer shocks. You want the shock to have at least 1" of travel past ride-height,so that the shocks aren't topped-out at rest, otherwise it will be very rough when riding, because the suspension won't have any "Droop" past ride-height.Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll check. The new rear shock that was put in was supposed to be an OEM replacement, I know it is not at the full extent of travel right now because when I lift on the back end of the frame it does come up more than how it is sitting at rest. I am sure it is the right shock and shouldn't be too short, I think the springs are weakened and don't have the stiffness they once had.

Well called vintage and they no longer have any new springs that will work. They said they check their used springs to ensure they are within factory spec before selling them so I think I'll give a pair of them a try. Can't hurt.

If you want to raise the rear a little, you can make up spacers like the lift-kits use. That will raise it up a little until you find some new coils. If you can get some measurements,I have some Ez-Go coils here I can measure to compare, maybe that would be an option for replacements.
