yes craig i did a feeler gauge rings was not too tight alls i know is when you go to start it you could run the battery down tryin to start it then check spark plug it would be dry no wetness at all then pour the gas to start it would start hr later you would have to do the same thing to get it started reprime cylinder when running seemed like it was starvin for fuel fuel filter barely had any fuel in it fuel would just barely trickle through

in the gas tank there should be a check valve at the end of the hose. if missing you will have a hard time starting. what do you have the low speed needle set at on the carb?

On the circuit breaker side there are two bearings, an inner and an outer... the crank seal is internal, not external. Crankshaft end play is adjusted by shimming the outer bearing. There wasn't any gasket between the case halves from the "factory", nor was one available "back-in-the-day"... "Harley Davidson Gasket Eliminator" was used to seal the case. Because crank end play is adjusted by shimming bearings, trial and error, assemble/disassemble/assemble the case... a gasket would throw off the adjustment.

Here we go again ordered new rings and piston Person stated on phone that they are an exact fit well there is no .002-.004 ring side clearence in the piston ring slots i do not have a lapping device to surface rings down the rings will go into the slots bu are real tight but the end gap is fine
