Solenoid help
Hey guys got my cart all back together last night and I think my solenoid is shot. Can you use any 4 terminal solenoid switch? Can you get them at an auto parts store? Anxious to get this thing started and don't want to order one if I can get one local. Thank you

Re: Solenoid help
Not being a HD technician I can only speak generally to your question about the use of automotive solenoids in golf carts. This is a no-no situation. Golf carts use continuous duty solenoids. Autos use intermittent duty solenoids.
Hope this helps |

Re: Solenoid help
Sorry it's a 77 model cart. So will it be ok if I stay with a continuous duty?

Re: Solenoid help
Is it a gas cart or electric? A start solenoid used in a gas cart to activate the electrically operated motor starter will be intermittent duty In this case, yes you should be able to find a suitable replacement at an auto parts store. You should take the old solenoid with you and you should know the battery voltage of your cart which is likely 6 or 12 volts.
If it is an electric cart the solenoids are continuous duty and operate on higher voltage. You will not find these in an auto parts store. A cart supply store would be the place to go for these. Charley |

Re: Solenoid help
Like I said not a HD mechanic but in Ezgo the start solenoid is continuous duty rated... Glad to see you found some help.
