Default Carb adjustment for 1978

I put new carb kit in cart given to me. Engine will start by spraying fuel in air intake but won't rev up then it appears to flood and quit. Engine has 85 PSI compression. Carb has one long stem adjustment on top that I don't know where to set. I'm using a temporary fuel tank with gravity feed since I thought maybe it wasn't pulling the fuel up from the original tank.

Discovered I have bigger problems. Took off head and jug, two top rings gone and piston in pretty bad shape. Looks like an overhaul. What would have caused those rings to break? Any suggestions where to get overhaul parts?

Vintage golf cart parts.
installing rings without proper end gap on the rings seams to be the biggest problem. buying a set( jug and rings) does not mean the gap has been set.

Yes, the new imported top end kits have over size rings and need to be sized. They are over sized so you can just install a new ring set with a slightly worn cylinder. In the 70's we expected three ring sets per re-bore on the two cycle motorcycles. Also the rings could wear enough to miss the locating pin and break on the cylinder port. A good inspection will probably tell all

I also Use AACO carts out of Evansville Indiana. They have good prices and delivery too.
