Default 85 hitachi starter generater

Is there a way to ''jump" the starter to see if it spins. Can't get anything by jumping the solenoid. How can I make the starter spin the motor directly? Am trying to re-do a jury rigged wiring job, and return it to original. Thanks for any suggestions. mlbrown just want to see it spin once (motor)

There is a microswitch under the floor on the driver's side. This switch is the gateway to the ignition process and activates when the accelerator pedal is depressed. If this switch isn't activated nothing you do to the cart will make it turn over. You may want to jump the microswitch, turn the key on and see what happens. The microswitch is known to go bad.

I found it helpful to keep the microswitch bypassed while troubleshooting other areas that could be causing trouble. Doing this will allow a simple turn of the key to start the ignition process rather than having to depress the accelerator pedal. Use caution while doing this as the engine can fire at any time. Take the drive belt off so the cart won't unexpectedly move.

If there is a Hitachi starter / generator in there it is not original and could well be wired wrong. There are wiring diagrams and service manuals posted on this site for the right price (free). Do some forum searches and see if you can find the right one.

Most parts are still available so that thing is fixable.

Thank-you very much for your help, somebody put a pull switch to replace the micro switch, it's a mess! Will regroup and go back after it!
