exhaust gasket blowing
When I rebuilt my top end the exhaust gasket blew on start up. I modified one that had metal in it and it worked for about 1-2 hours before it blew. What have you guys been doing to keep these from blowing? thanks

Re: exhaust gasket blowing
Oops, it wasn't the exhaust gasket, it was the muffler. Welded a plate to re-enforce where the head pipe goes in and this should fix it.

Re: exhaust gasket blowing
The gasket between the head and pipe to the muffler?
Does yours 'pop' or 'backfire' when you take your foot off the gas? If it does that tends to be really hard on things. Easy fix, just have to make sure the throttle closes all the way when you take your foot off the pedal. |
