Question Yahama Oil sensor light

I have what I believe is a yahama G16 gas cart (2001). My carb float filled with gas which flooded gas into the crankcase. LIght was not ON at this time. I corrected the carb problem, drained the oil/gas mixture out (at which time the sensor light came ON) , flushed the crank case and refilled with new oil. All is working again and golf cart runs but the light never went back OFF after filling with oil like it normally would. My question is, would this gas in the oil have damaged the sensor or do I simply have a gas pocket infront of the sensor causing it to not see the oil in the crankcase? Oil level is fine on the dip stick. I have changed the oil before all this happened and it would always go off when adding the oil back in. How hard is it to pull and replace the sensor if I have to. Help please

yes I'm sorry my answer sounded like a lot of work, it kind of is (but not too hard). you shouldn't do this repair in the cart. take the motor out, it's not very hard. if you have sockets and wrenches 45 minutes tops. if you have the newer style jn6 motor you'll have to take the side off to replace the sensor or clean the sensor. if you have the older motor with 3 lines to the top of valve cover, it is easier.

If it is that much trouble i would just take the bulb out or disconnect the light and keep an eye on oil level frequently.

Just to give ya'll an update on this, after my son took it for a few laps around the field the light went out. I guess it got sloshed up enough around there in the crankcase for the sensor to clear itself and see the new oil. Thanks for the replies!

Can't ask for more than that. Think maybe I would change the oil again after a couple months use just be be sure it was clean inside. I always run synthetic since its only couple dollars more for one qt, but now it seems better to run off road oil with zinc in it or use an additive.
