Angry Spark issue in forward.

G1 2-stroke
I currently have great spark in forward and reverse when I unplug b/w wire at the CDI, (but no engine shut off when I lift off pedal so I do not like this). When b/w wire is plugged in like normal at CDI I have great spark in reverse but none in forward? Anyone have a similar issue? I am leaning towards CDI being bad.

At some point prior to accidentally disconnecting b/w wire and getting spark I have swapped solenoids, cdi, wire harness, and ignition switch from a recently running G1 troubleshooting this issue. I am stumped b/c I find it hard to believe that both my CDI units would exhibit same behavior. I have no way to test the 2 CDI's I have b/c other G1 bottom end went kaput and I do not know anyone with a running G1 close by. If its not the CDI then what else is shorting b/w wire out when its in forward position only? Could it be I have 2 bad ignition switches? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

Welcome to BGW!!!
Check to see if the White/Green wire is touching the motor case where it comes out of the motor, or grounded anywhere else. Check it with the keyswitch in the OFF position.
Please let us know what you find.

k, i'll do that tomorrow. that is about the only place that wire could be grounding b/c I ran a different harness just today.

If you don't see it physically grounded, use an ohm-meter. Check it with the key off.
Please let us know what you find. Good luck.

didn't see wire frayed or exposed. I am not sure what reading I would be looking for with an ohm-meter.

I unhooked w/g wire and used multi-meter to read 11.2 volts when hooked positive terminal to w/g wire coming out of case. battery reads 12.2 volts across terminals.

You want to leave everything hooked up and the key off. Put the meter on ohms and check for continuity to ground.

probed g/w wire with key in off position and ohm-meter never moved. had one end in butt connection before cdi and other was on neg terminal. with key in forward/reverse position it would get reading, nothing however when key was off.

Ok that's good. Check W/G to ground with the key in reverse. Don't press the pedal. W/G should have continuity(zero ohms) to ground while in reverse. Then check W/R in forward. Don't press the pedal. W/R should have continuity(zero ohms) to ground when in forward.
Neither should have continuity to ground with the key off.
