Default Clutch Power Kit!

Has anyone made their own shaft spacer like sold in the clutch power kit for the G2 and up?

I installed the G1 clutch on my G2 rear differential. First I found that I had to add spacers to the shaft behind the nut so that the grooves in the nut were over the hole in the shaft so that I could install a cotter pin.

I now notice that the rear ramp section of the clutch and the ramp section on the back sheave apparently aren't as close as they should be. So I think I need too put a spacer between the ramp section and the clip on the shaft.

I think that the spacer is exactly what I need so want to make one if possible. I don't know if it needs the grooves too slide over the shaft or if it just needs to be a tight fit.

I also think it will give me a bit more power by changing the spring tension as well. But till I try it, I won't know.

I can try one without the grooves, but thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone had made their own spacer.

I actually found a place sells just that part. It's pricey though at $20.

Well, I thought that I may have one of these spacers on the G2 cart I have. No such luck. I'll most likely just need to buy one. I think I need one just to move the clutch sheave and the ramp part of the clutch closer together. .

The spacers where disighned to replace the damaged circlip ring groove on the input shaft (also used when a torque spring is installed). If the groove got damaged the circlip and sprin seat sould slide up against the transaxle case and take the secondary out of pre load. They are cheap priced for what they do.

Ok, didn't know they took the place of the clip....... I thought they went in on top of the clip to compress the spring to add some kind of power to the clutch. I still think I need a bit of something on mine. I need to measure the shaft on the G1 and G2 differential to see what difference there is in them before doing too much. I know that some places include the spacer with new clutches and also with the power kit. I may be able to make my own spacer and just leave the hole smooth instead of the grooves.

I'll just play with it to see if I can get it to work.

The cotter pin did not originally engage the nut, and it wasnt even a castle nut, it was a lock nut. The pin was there as a "last ditch effort" to keep the thing from blowing apart if it somehow did come loose (not likely with a lock nut).

If there were no "splines/teeth" it would just get pushed into the bearing seal.

Well, I have two different G1 carts and while both had different types of nut on the shaft, they both have grooves that the cotter pin fits into when going thru the hole in the shaft.

Unless it's bigger than the seal and the ramp side of clutch sets on it.

Then it would rub up against the transaxle casing.....see what I'm saying?
