G1 question
What is the purpose of the hose going to the fitting on the muffler?
Thanks... |

Re: G1 question
If I remember correctly.......the fitting is a jet sensor. The hose runs from it to the oil injector. It detects pressure in the muffler (rpm) and tells the injector how much oil to pump.

Re: G1 question
If your oil pump is not working it is unlikely that the sensor is the problem. Make sure there is no air in the oil lines. The injector only pumps a very small amount of oil. Nothing like a fuel pump. If you are in doubt about the injector, don't hesitate.... start premixing.

Re: G1 question
For sure!! Premix... You can always fix the oil injection pump system. It will take out the motor quick if its not working (like before you finish THIS tank of fuel). If you are second guessing the injection system at all, oil the fuel tank before driving any more. Over oiling is FAR better than under oiling (a fouled spark plug vs a dead motor). If you open or replace any oil lines, or do any pump work, be sure to properly purge all the air out of the injection system. The pump cant pump air out, and any bubble between the carb & pump would take so long to purge that the motor would be damaged.
