Default just got a JW8 drive gas choke problem

I just bought a 2011 drive jw8

I thought the jw8's were FI but my cart has a carb

what is worse it runs better with the choke on
so something is not right

I pulled the carb to drained it in case of water in the gas
that is too common here in south fl with 99% humidity
but that did not do the trick

ideas on what to check next ?

cart runs 20 mph with stock 18'' tyres
and gets 26 with 13'' wheels and 23'' tyres
with the gov disconnected

Fully clean every nook-&-cranny of the carb. And make sure all carb/intake gaskets are nice. Also, if you are trying to run it with the factory airbox & airfilter not in place, it will run like crap (the lid has to be on).

Default Re: just got a JW8 drive gas choke problem

why yamaha does not understand what happens with different metals in liquid

they have a aluminum carb body with a steel bolt in the bottom of the float
then add a copper washer just to be sure the steel bolt will rust
and the rust has no place to go but into the jet with the fuelflow

anyway I cleaned the float chamber of the rust, blew out the jet and other passage holes with carb cheaner
and the cart runs better now

thanks
