G8 body question
I'm a new owner of a '92 G8 gas cart. The front cowl has a crack in it, and since it seems to be made of unobtainium, I'd like to fix it.
It seems to be made of similar plastic as car bumper covers. Has anyone had any success repairing these? If so, what did you use, how did you do it? Is it possible to plastic weld them? I've done a little reading about repairing bumper covers, but it seems like there are several types of plastic used. Do any of you know what type of plastic our carts are made of? Thanks, Joe |

Re: G8 body question
The front and rear bodies on the G8 are made out of "metton", the same thing watercraft hulls were made out of. You can use fiberglass from the back side and use Bondo on the outside and use automotive paint to finish. Much easier then plastic bodies. Good luck...I hate fiberglass

Re: G8 body question
Yep! Fiberglass works well on the back side. I also had luck using Bondo. You'll need to sand it afterwards, but it works fine.
