Sounds like it needs crank shaft seals.

Not to "hijack" dura1's post, but Ron....Do you plan on upgrading to a "chrome muffler bearing"? Dave

Thanks I saw on here to try spraying starter fluid around them and see if it revs up. So I tried that and it didn't rev up. So could it still be the crank seals??

Very common on the 2 strokes to lose pressure through worn seals and not have enough to operate the fuel pump properly.

This time on a serious note. Take a compression test. At "wide open throttle" you 1982 (low compression year), you should have 90 psi minimum. 100 to 110 would be great. If that checks ok, I would agree with Ron, crank seals. I useually change the "clutch" side first (it's larger and carries the weight of the clutch assy) unforunitly you will need a special puller to get the clutch "fixed sheave" off the crankshaft. Good luck and keep us posted. Dave

Dura1, is this the same cart that needs a muffler? Cuz it has to have the back pressure to run correctly...

Actually, Dura1 is my neighbor, and the cart he is asking about is mine... and mine does have a muffler.

Anyways, how do you check compression at WOT? Just let it crank with the pedal to the wood?

Oh and by the way... Hello and thanks for answering my questions!
