Default Massively improving performance on a 2014 G29A PTV-FI

Greetings.

Am taking delivery of a brand new 2014 G29A PTV-FI 4-seater cart this week. I understand that this is 11.4hp,357cc, fuel injection, single cylinder OHV...and super slow.

I live in a hilly island community where only 500 golf carts (and no other private vehicles) are allowed. Most of the other carts here pull around 30 mph on the flat, with variable performance up the hills (and naturally I want to go faster, especially up the hills).

I have read that I should call Plowman, but would like to know a little more about my options before I do so.

I want speed (of course!), but also the ability to rocket up the hills with 4 people in the cart. I will consider all options, including the more drastic and expensive ones, as I do not own a car and consider this my main form of transport. This is for road use only.

Many thanks

Plowmans can definitely set you up, but not sure how that will affect your warranty, if you're worried about that.

Ziptie the governor. But, keep in mind that even if the throttle governor is totally disabled, the PCM still has a rpm limiter in it as well. This will limit your ultimate top speed. If you think you are gonna "rocket up hills with 4 passengers", might as well rip that motor out an go straight to a big block.

Spoke to Don - what a class act. Ordered new clutch, fan belt, air filter and lift kit, plus Don will talk me through the mods I need to make to delete the governor and adjust timing. Will report back in due course on the before and after.

This thread is aboht the FI model, which has a rpm governor built in the pcm Not the carb model. My best tip is to have a look at the throttle body to ensure it is opening all the way with the gas pedal, but be sure to not adjust it so far that it opens before the pedal stop switch activates, or smooth low speed operation wont be possible. I have had this alone net me 3 mph on a few very poorly factory adjusted carts.
