Smile 93 Yamaha G9/HF Honda Clone 420cc/rebuild almost done!

Well, I just now got my golf cart running, although it might need some tuning. This is what i have installed in the past 2 years while waiting patiently. High performance primary clutch, new belt 1 3/16 wide, new secondary sliding sheave, new HD spring, new helix, new tuned carb. I have modified the exhaust and the intake but never going less than the original width of the intake or exhaust, I put an 18hp kohler muffler with 10" SS flex pipe to the pipe. I removed the gov., run a straight fuel line from the stock fuel pump to the carb. I put the pulse from the top of the valve cover to pump. The pcv hose runs back to the original G9 airbox(modified for 1 1/4 openings). I just got it running a short time ago. Now i need the clutch belt put back on once i lift and run some tests. Hopefully i will be driving it by tomorrow night. I have to make it run smoother first. But i might just call it a night as i have been out here all day long....pooped and out of beer.

Well i got it running today but it wont stay running. I tried adjusting the carb air fuel mix and the best i could get it was barely running. I dont know what i should do to it now. I started by screwing it all the way in and 1 1/2 turns out. It just wont stay running on its own. I even stalls when i try to keep it running. I know its gonna be something simple. I just wish i knew more about this.

I would start by taking that air intake hose off. Loosing alot of performance being so long.

Did you install fuel return line? The clone will just not run right at all without it.

Dakota, contact G1-G9, (Tom). He's built a number of those clones!! You can catch him in the G8 Club, or G9 Club!!

I never used a return line on any of the clones ive built. As long as you drill and put a barb fitting in your valve cover for your fuel pump thats all you need. Make sure that oil has not gotten into this line or it wont run right.

Here are a few pictures of the first one i built. I used the stock muffler because it kept the noise down a lot. There is no adjustment on the carb other than the idle screw.
