Thanks G1-G9! Well i got it running today but it wont stay running. I tried adjusting the carb air fuel mix and the best i could get it was barely running. I dont know what i should do to it now. I started by screwing it all the way in and 1 1/2 turns out. It just wont stay running on its own. I even stalls when i try to keep it running. I know its gonna be something simple. I just wish i knew more about this.

Re: Do i need this one way valve for my big block?
That valve I'm pretty sure bleeds off the pulse line to keep any oil out of the pump. I have been tempted to put it back in the line on my clone. In the winter it gets condensation in it but seems ok otherwise. My pulse is off the valve cover.
They usually run ok but go lean when you gas on them hard. The idle jet you mean? You may have to pop that plug out the top of carb (under the idle speed screw) and enlarge that tiny jet in the plug just a little. I ran wire strand through it and sawed on it that was enough. That lets more fuel to the idle jet screw. The main you take out its above the bowl bolt, the e-tube might fall out, then drill it larger or use a torch tip cleaner on it. It should run ok with stock muffler and airbox, if you changed them to higher flow it will be lean. Put the choke on a little or plug up the air intake a little see if it runs then you know its jetting. The idle mix only works like 3 turn out, then you have to enlarge that pilot jet to get more flow to it. |

Re: Do i need this one way valve for my big block?
Thanks Sho!!! Im almost done. Went out for my first long ride today! It was good. Although it did backfire a couple times when i let off the gas real fast. It goes 28mph so far. I went about 20 miles or so. Once i get that last backfire issue out of the way, im home free. I need to get some pure regular gasoline soon. Ill check to see if that idle jet is less than 3 turns out....thanks for the tips!
