lifting a g1
Does anyone know if lifting a 1986 G1 is just a bolt on operation. One Vendor said that some modification of the frame would be necessary so the clutch would not rub after lifting. Is that so?

Re: lifting a g1
It have a G1 limo that I put a jakes 6" lift on and there was quite a bit of frame modifications that I had to do make it so that the clutch sheeve didn't coontact the frame. I'm not 100% sure of the year of the cart, but if you want to see what I had to do check out my thread in the member ride section. It's title is "The G1 Limo".
Hope that helps. Chris |

Thanks for the advice, stretch. I think I will just get her running first and keep the wheels stock for now.

Re: lifting a g1
Suchner if you only lift it with a 4 inch kit you wont have to mess with the frame. I have a 4 inch on mine with no problem then put on 10 inch mags and big mud knobbies.

Re: lifting a g1
ic746 - What brand is your 4 inch lift and do you like it? Is it well made or would you buy something else next time? Looking for some more lift for my G1 but dont really need 6 to 8 inches of height.
Thanks |

Re: lifting a g1
Hi Oldtimer, I think its the AllSports 4 inch model for the G1. I like it and I have had it over some really good steep banks and jumped a few hills with it and no problem yet. The only thing that could be reinforced on it is the 2 pieces you bolt your linkage too. Mine is holding up good but if I ever damage it I am going to reinforce those 2 pieces myself. Hope that helps a little Oldtimer.

Re: lifting a g1
Yes that helps. I dont plan to abuse the cart but my grandson may give it a workout. I just want to get a little more ground clearance, add bigger tires, and make the cart look a little nicer.
Once again, Thanks! |

Re: lifting a g1
Anytime Oldtimer I am just glad I can help. Mine is still doing fine and I have had the lift on it for almost a year now.
Good Luck. Calvin |

Re: lifting a g1
it is the G1 carts before 81 that you have to modify the frame so that the clutch does not hit the frame.
