Default New toys! And problems! Limo cart and g11? Top speed

Ok so I just got 2 new carts one is a street legal limo runs great 30mph via gps
Needs some body work but the one I'm have problems with is the 2seater can't find a vin on it engine looks like a g9 so maybe it's a g11? Anyways I drive it a mile it's slow but runs good. Then it starts stumbling and dying out likes it's starving for fuel. I found a bad one way check valve teed into the vacuum supply for the fuel pump going to the PVC valve. I hooked the PVC and blocked off the line so the fuel pump just had engine vacuum to it. Tried it again problem seems fixed sweet! But still to slow so I removed the govenor and drill out the hole so it free spins just like my other carts. Drive it again and it's much faster but the engine surges up and down like it's being govenered maybe by the ignition? So I noticed the drive belt worn popped on another one problem almost gone but every once in a while she still surges. Ok sorry for the long post just trying to get some help. I will try to post pics

Looks like a G8 to me, it has a G8 rear body on it. And a G16 front body. Vin should be located in front of the battery on the vertical support.

That one way valve (coming off the valve cover),needs to be put back into service, it is responsable for sucking oil up into the rocker galley.

Looks like a nice find to me!!:

Thanks found the vin it is a g8. I will look for a new check valve. Any ideas on what is causing the surging. Cruises find but when WOT it loses power picks back up and repeat

You have a disabled governor, or belt & clutch problems. The top speed surging is likely the rpm limit in the ignition system. The regular governor should be controlling engine & cart ground speed before the ignition cut-off ever happens. Whats current top speed?

Yes the governor is disabled but so are my other two yamahas they do 30mph and don't surge. However now that you mention it the top speed on this one is not as fast and the belt was worn I had to replace I'm starting to think it might be a clutch problem. Anything to look for when inspecting the clutch? Thanks! I think I've almost got it figured out haha

Some yamaha models do not have a rpm limit built in the ignition system . Neither clutch should have much "wobble" (slop in bushings). Check weights in front clutch.
