Default 91? Yamaha Not running

I just purchased a Yamaha gasser from CL. I can't find a serial number anywhere on it. It does have a small plaque on the front with a persons name and 1991 on it. The person I purchased it from stated that it had been used in 2013 and put in a shed since. When he pulled it out it didn't run so he put a new solenoid in and still nothing. As it sits nothing happens when the pedal is pushed. I did the ground test with a light and the one I found was bright. One of the fuses had a 35 amp in. Replaced both fuses, one with a 10 and one with a 30 (the one that was 35). The pic of the solenoid shows a black wire hooked up, however it is spliced with a red/white out of the pic. I think from my reading here that there is supposed to be a black wire on the other post. I cant find a loose black wire anywhere. Where should the black wire be coming from to splice in? Could it come direct from neg battery? The battery is 12.9 v. Thanks for any and all help!

On a side note, this forum helped me with an ezgo engine swap in 2008 that is still going strong, (although it got left in MI 5 years ago).http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...1&d=1434066927

That is a G2, which might have still been made in 91 but I thought 90 was last year. I think the fuses are both 10A but lights will blow them if hooked to stock wiring, which is a bad idea. There is a wiring diagram posted here in the stickies. Note that yami carts all wire the grounds, there is no frame ground! Only the engine is ground, so most things use ground wires and all wiring can have connection issues. On that yamaha iirc the white/red wire starts at battery and goes to key, then to pedal switch, then to the coil/ignitor/start solenoid. Trace that wire see if there is power. Check grounds from those things, wiring issue are common in these but cheap to fix. Check the wire colors on the posted diagram. Most all G2/9 have had the connectors replaced around that solenoid on the small wires.

Thanks for the info! I have a mix of non functioning headlight/taillight wires taped/zip tied, etc. to the original harness, separated it all. I found an open black where the reverse buzzer would have been hooked up (I think) and jumped it to the solenoid. Motor turned! Got spark! Scraped the gunk out of the air filter and replaced an almost plugged line to the top of the motor. Lots of choke and it ran! Drained the old gas and put in new 93 and had the kid run it around for awhile. Now I need to decide if I should rewire the existing lights or start fresh. Any thoughts on this? the turn signal handle is in pieces in the dash and its a cluster. Spare parts in Alaska are not available locally or easily obtained. Thinking new may be the way to go. Thanks for any info.

My lights are wired from the battery to a switch next to the shifter. Then wired to the front lights. These lights don't have a ground its the mount, so I had to put a heavy wire battery negative to the frame, which I put on the bolt above that holds the rear body down to the frame. I was afraid of corrosion/rust if I put it low on the frame near battery. I should move the switch to the dash it would be nicer, I use a lighted switch but hard to see in daytime if you bump it on.
