2012 dies while running, have to pump gas pedal?
While I'm running my cart will just shut off and I have to pump the gas pedal a few times to get it going again. What's the deal, anyone know?

Whats the background history of the cart? Are you the original owner and how long have you had. Just trying to get an idea if its old gas, or if filter was ever changed etc. Just by what you saying sounds like a fuel supply issue. Either fuel pump or carb needing a full cleaning.

Re: 2012 dies while running, have to pump gas pedal?
Sounds like a bad switch at the gas pedal. There is no accelerator pump like an automotive carb would have, so pumping the gas pedal would not force more fuel into the carb, so I don't think the problem is fuel related.

Re: 2012 dies while running, have to pump gas pedal?
Ohms cruiser you have one bad *** cart. Saw some pics in your other thread. Sandbagger is probably correct. A few years ago i had a 2010 g29 that would not start sometimes. It wouldnt do like your stating where just driving along and then just shutoff though. My problem was when ever the pedal would return to home position and then pressing the pedal would give me the problems. You can take a ohm meter and check the switch thats under the rubber mat and access panel thats at the gas pedal. Its easy to troubleshoot to rule out if its the problem or not.

Its a 2012. I just got it from a guy who takes carts and fixes them up and sells them. I just got the cart this week.
Any idea how to test that exact switch? |

Yeah, when its acting up, press pedal to the floor, then slide your foot off the side of the pedal, allowing the pedal to slap up to the at-rest position. If it works next time pedal is pressed, the switch is probably bad.

Re: 2012 dies while running, have to pump gas pedal?
what is the point of killing the motor and restarting every time you stop
I street drive never will golf and this just looks to me to be extra ware + battery drain is there a down side to ripping out the stop switch on a carb g-29 ? extra odd question is there a pull start option on the gas motor from another use ? ie is the cart yamaha motor used in anything else with a rope starter ? |

I tested the pedal switch and it tested out fine and I could not replicate the issue. Any other suggestions?

When you state that you can be driving along and it dies. Do you mean it dies while you still have the pedal pressed down to the floor or when you release the pedal and coast and the press the pedal again???

Re: 2012 dies while running, have to pump gas pedal?
It dies while I have the pedal down at the moment.
I first adjusted the governor nut a few turns and all the sudden it started not wanting to go again when I came off the brake and reengaged the gas pedal. I then adjusted the governor about half way back to stock and now it dies while I'm driving with the pedal down. After reading on the forum I just thought the governor adjustment was coincidence. |
