I put the 6" Jakes on my g16 and it was relatively easy. I'm satisfied with it but will probably end up putting a long travel on it before long.

Re: which 6" lift kit
What is the difference in the long travel and a regular lift? My first cart so I don't know much about these lifts.

This is a reply to similar question.
Default Re: standard lift kit vs. long travel kit moleman, I'm no injuneer but here's my take, having a Jakes 6" on G9: You're limited by the design principles of the respective lift kits. The A arm is designed to use your stock length shocks and will give you about 3" of travel with these. If this suits your riding style then great. Longer shocks simply give you more lift and causes the front geometry to change, so you now need to "extend" the top shock mount 3-4" down, extend tie rod length's, hope camber is OK and .... With the "long-travel" you get the extra travel (amount depends on what you buy), new shocks to accomodate the travel, frame/ mounting pieces etc, all designed for your ride. But more expensive. Hope that helps! My .02 |

Lets say you want to run your cart fast down the trails (offroad use), or you plan to put a larger engine in it so it goes faster and has more power on trials. Now you find the cart does not ride so good on rough stuff at speed, you need more suspension. A LT lift gives you more travel, usually better shocks, and it will work more like an ATV. It will ride nicer yet (usually, or can be made to ride nicer) and will handle speed better on rough ground that upsets the limited stock suspension. Most Yamaha use A arm suspensions and they do not do as well if you increase the travel. So most LT are dual arms that work better, are what atv use. |

Re: which 6" lift kit
Thanks for the information. I will just be using my cart around the campgrounds. There are trails to ride, but no fast speeds allowed. Seems like a 6" would be o.k.

Re: which 6" lift kit
If you can swing it look at the allsport dual arm, and there are ones like it. That is about the cheapest dual arm and you can try other shocks on it later. Its not a jakes dual arm but a step above other single arm lifts. Otherwise a normal lift will work fine for normal driving around, the better lifts are nicer on rough ground or higher speeds, can look cooler as well, and you get a better tire alignment.
OOps let me edit that, Jakes makes 2 dual arm for some carts. The LT is the nice one that is adjustable and you can get shocks too. The other one is similar to the allsports and iirc is not as wide. Yes Jakes calls the intermediate dual arm lift the 7", it appears to be about $35 more than the 6" single arm lift. It would be $35 well spent IMO. |

Re: which 6" lift kit
Like stated, it all depends on how you plan to use your cart. I have a Jake's LT on my G9. I also have a highly modified Vanguard motor in it and it takes a beating on serious trails. If this is a campground cart with minimal trails and all you want is to be able to put slightly bigger tires on, then a 6" lift will fill the bill.
