Default G1 starting problems

Had a question concerning a g1. After a new throttle cable, cleaning ignition switch, checking fuel line, fuel pump is pumping gas. Carb is new. Person I bought it from had put new gaskets in before I bought it from them, and a new battery. It will turn on in forward or reverse, electrical motor.only problem is gas engine will not kick over. I don't know if it's no spark or what's causing it to not turn on. If anybody can give me some ideas I would really appreciate it. As I am new to working on golf carts, and don't want to get overcharged at the local cart shop. If anybody has any ideas or pointers please let me know. As I would like to have it running again.

Is the engine actually spinning (front clutch)? If not, is the starter/generator spinning? If not either of these, is the solenoid clicking? If the starter/generator is spinning but not the motor, adjusting the tension on the skinny starter belt might be the only problem.

Solenoid is clicking, starter engine will in both forward and reverse. Gas engine will not turn on.

Are you saying that the engine doesn't turn over when the starter/generator turns? Or are you saying that the engine turns over, but doesn't start?

When the starter gen turns on. It's spinning the motor. But it's not on, gas isn't combusting, belt won't tighten to spin rear wheels. It seems to have spark at the plug.

Might be the ignition switch when you cleaned it. I don't have much experience but when trying to get my G1 going, I had the same issue.

Check to see if you have spark - Take the plug out of the cylinder chamber and put the end near a ground and see if you are getting spark. I did not have spark while the starter/generator was going. I disconnected the black and the black/white wires on the stop switch under the gas pedal from the main harness at the connectors off. The gas engine fired right up with some choke. It was a bad stop switch.

"The spark plug is sparking every 2-3 seconds or so. I did premix the gas in the tank. I know there's gas in the bowel of the carg I checked. How do I know for sure if it's getting right amount of gas" you have to stick to one post man it will help you out better in the long run ...if you have spark and "think you have fuel" you only need compression to fire.... try some ether and see if it will fire if it doesnt you need to see what you have for compression
