Yamaha rear clutch noise
Hey guys I have 98 Yamaha and I was out riding today and I hear a rattle noise by the rear clutch what can the noise be ? And how to fix it
Noise sounds like the clutch is vibrating on something ? |

Put the cart on jack stands and remove seat bottom. Rev up engine and watch the sliding portion of the rear clutch (closer to transmission). If it is wobbly, the bushing is bad. If not, the noise may be the input shaft bearing in the trans. That is much harder to fix (remove trans, disassemble, replace bearing). This is all assuming that your assesment of what area the noise is coming from was correct.

It's not wobbly and it makes the clinking noise at higher speed, I have it in service mode with the back off to see the driven clutch

Yamaha doesnt have a "service mode". Are you still pretty sure its from the rear clutch? Have you tried removing belt and running it to see if noise is still present? (NO rpm governor when belt is off).

I can't tell what would cause that noise, but I'd take off the primary cover and start looking there.
Try the long screwdriver to the ear trick, in various places!! |
