Default Plowman belt question on a G2

I put a plowmans performance kit on our G2 this spring. New secondary, exhaust, carb jets and belt. Then mid summer, it started clunking. The primary clutch cover had several cracks in it. So i ordered a new primary clutch from Don. When I took the clutch off, I noticed my new belt was broken.

Could a broken belt cause my clutch to start breaking? or could my broken clutch cause my belt to break? if it is the bad clutch that is the culprit, I'll buy another belt from Plowmans, otherwise I'll try to find another source for one.

Thank you for the input.

For my two cents....

Since the belt was relatively new, as was the secondary clutch, I would bet the primary clutch break caused the belt fail. Belts are tough and just don't break unless something affects them.

I appreciate the input. We haven't driven the cart a lot this summer, but when we do, its around a private lake or on the city roads.

This is my first cart, and I have done a ton of reading on here. The next step is to have the rear shocks rebuilt and mount my rear seat kit. Anyone have a write up of how they mounted a rear seat kit (g22) to a G2?

Those belts are reinforced with Kevlar I believe and are super tough. I'm betting the primary failed and cut the belt

Look for damage or holes in the sheaves that contact the belt, they will rip the belt up. I ran a double cogged kevlar on my clone and don't think it even wore at all and worked super nice. I am trying another size normal belt at the moment and it works but not as well, trying it for a different issue.

Also if you break a weight in the stock clutch it wont shift right, it could burn the belt I suppose. I once also had a stick get in my belt and put a tear in an old belt.
