Default Plowmans kit on 2013 Drive

Hey guys,
I finally had a chance to ride the cart I bought last week. I was thinking it was very slow, but with a GPS it is actually going about 17-19 mph.
I haven't even looked at the governor yet. Hopefully it is as from the factory still.
My question, if I buy the $199 kit from Plowmans, is it a given that I need to adjust it or zip tie it to get full performance?
25 mph will be fine for me. I will be taking it to Road Atlanta in a couple weeks for the week, and would like a little more speed getting up the hills around the track.
I didn't see anything on Plowman's web site about the governor.

I plan on keeping the stock wheels and tires for a while, they are like brand new.
thanks for any advice
Rick

After you buy the kit it's in the instructions to call him so that he can explain how to adjust the throttle cables, bypass the governor, and adjust the valves on a hot engine. If your getting 19 right now then your governor is not at the stock setting. Take a picture of the governor arm so we can confirm.

If I remember on a cart that I installed the full plowmans kit on and still ran the oem tires I believe 27-28 was the max speed with the engine running more rpms than I'm comfortable running for a very long time. This was with the governor bypassed. Added 20" tires went to 31mph and 22" tires went to 33-34mph

Thanks for the feedback dbmachine.
I took the off the rear access panel, and it looks like the governor is pretty close to factory.
Maybe my GPS app is off. I was surprised it the GPS registered that fast.
In any case, I will test it with the car.
See pics attached.

Usually 10-12 is about what the factory speed should be set for golf courses. If you look at the but on the threaded rod the factory setting is about 1" of threads showing maybe a tad less. No need to tighten the nut if you wanna go faster just put a tie wrap on it. Tightening that but can be pain since it's a locking nut and the way you have to reach in especially with a rear seat.

Thanks dbmachine.
Hard to tell in the pic, but it looks like it has about an inch showing. I plan to zip tie it, to about 3/4 the way. I don't want to fry the engine. You think that should be ok?
I am doubting the accuracy of the GPS app. I will verify tomorrow.
You can really feel the governor kick in, and I don't think I am going 19mph.

You can tie wrap it all the way until the threads end. The governor will still kick in and limit to rpms at full speed. Your not gonna fry the engine with the governor still in tact unless you ride it to the floor in jack stands of something. You might wanna ditch the oil for a new bottle of Mobil 1 full synthetic 10w30 when you do tie wrap it to. You might read around that with the governor all the way the cart can go lean and damage the engine. Just use good judgement is all I can say and not hold it to the floor for a very long period of time.

I have the stock tires on mine and with a zip-tie governor, I just hit 21 MPH. Stock governor was about 13 MPH

Hey guys,
Yeah , as I suspected, my iOS app was WAY off! I knew I wasn't going 19mph.
I got another app and ran it in my car, and it was dead on, while the other one was 6-10mph off.
I will benchmark it tomorrow and then ziptie it.
thanks for all the feedback guys.
