Default pulling steering wheel on g-1 yamaha cart

I am trying to pull the steering wheel on a g-1 yamaha and with the plastic flange on the bottem the plastic is just distorting with three prong puller. Any suggestions?

Sometimes this will work.....sit in the drivers seat. Tuck your knees behind the steering wheel and push towards you, at the same time tap the shaft with a hammer. Be careful not to damage the threads. You could put a block of wood on the splined shaft and hit that. Make sure when it comes off that your not in it's path!

Spray with a penetrating oil then do the previous post method. Worked for me.

Might sound stupidbut... take off the nut and sit in the seat and bang on the sides ( of the steering wheel) with your fists like your a gorilla banging a drum start slow and then go crazy . Works every time : )

The way I removed mine is too run the nut off until it's flush with the top to protect the threads. I use this method if I don't have a brass or nylon hammer to protect the threads.

I then do as instructed above and pull on the wheel while rapping on the shaft/nut.
